Mylothridis Panagiotis, MD MSc PhD FEBOPRAS
Winner of the European Plastic Surgery Award (2017) (ESPRAS Fellowship)

A plastic surgeon is the doctor who combines the principles of both science and art to achieve an optimal result for his patients. Even though plastic surgery is notoriously associated with unnatural changes in someone’s appearance, it is quite easy to achieve beautiful results. It requires knowledge of normal anatomy and understanding of what beauty is.

In my clinics in Athens and Thessaloniki, Greece, we enhance your charm, improving the proportions of your body, the harmony of your face and your skin quality. We believe that the cornerstone of an attractive person is the healthy lifestyle and the acceptance of ourselves. For anything else, trust your plastic surgeon.

PLASTIC SURGEON IN ATHENS AND THESSALONIKI, GREECE

Dr. Milo is a Greek Specialist Plastic Surgeon since 2017 and a fellow of the European Board of Plastic Surgery (EBOPRAS). He achieved this title after passing the European written and oral exams in Belgium and in the Netherlands in 2016.

His scientific and humanitarian achievements led him to winning 2 international awards (fellowships) in 2018. The Dutch Aesthetic Facial Plastic and Reconstractive Surgery (DAFPRS) and the European Societies of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery (ESPRAS) gave him the opportunity to make a 3-month fellowship in rhinoplasty in Istanbul, Turkey.

SPECIALIZED IN RHINOPLASTY

Istanbul is the city where East meets West. Dr. Milo had the opportunity to learn the art and science of rhinoplasty there by Dr. Nazim Cerkes. Every day they used to operate complicated rhinoplasty cases.

Rhinoplasty is thought to be one of the most challenging procedures in plastic surgery. Dr. Milo operates on noses to achieve a better-looking appearance, but also nasal normal function. Having a harmonious nose and normal breathing are both very important.

AUTHORSHIP

2020 was a landmark for Dr. Milo as he published his first international book in English by Springer. The book is a clinical tool for plastic surgeons and dermatologists to identify and select the patients who will benefit the most from cosmetic procedures.

It is based on his long-term scientific research in Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. His research was about the psychosocial factors that increase someone’s interest to seek plastic surgery. Also, he revealed the predicting factors for post-operative satisfaction, e.g. 2 people may have the same rhinoplasty but one is satisfied while the other one is unhappy with the result. Dr. Milo clarified the factors that made him unhappy, even though he has an acceptable cosmetic result.

Q&A by Dr. Milo

Who is the best plastic surgeon?

Plastic surgeons should be able to recognize your cosmetic needs and suggest a protocol of treatments for you to be satisfied with the results. Regardless of the unnatural images that are promoted by social media, your plastic surgeon should place realistic goals and help you achieve a better version of yourself.

What is the cost of plastic surgery?

The cost of a cosmetic procedure is comprised by these factors: the surgical fee that is dependant on the surgeon and the type of surgery, the clinic cost that involves the cost of the OR and the anesthesia fee. So, there is not a standard cost, but it is highly dependant on each surgeon and the type of surgery.

Who is the ideal candidate to undergo a plastic surgery?

All adults who desire to improve a characteristic of their appearance and to achieve a more harmonious face or body are ideal candidates. The main exception to this general rule is people who have unrealistic expectations for the results or body dysmorphic disorder, that creates a false perception of how someone look.

What makes a plastic surgery successful?

There are two main criteria that make a plastic surgery to be considered successful: the first is that the patient will be satisfied postoperatively with improved self-esteem and quality of life and the second is that their facial and body features meet the objective beauty norms. Human morphology and anatomy indicate specific distances and measurements that make a face or body to seem harmonious. The ultimate goal of plastic surgery is to improve someone’s self-esteem and quality of life with these harmonious changes in morphology.

Does plastic surgery have risks?

Every surgical procedure has a small percentage of complications. It is important to choose a plastic surgeon with expertise who can take the right decisions to lower the risk of plastic surgery. Before undergoing a cosmetic procedure you should be well informed about it and give your consent to it.

I am not ready to undergo a surgical procedure. Are there alternatives?

Yes. Minimally-invasive treatments are a great alternative to improve your looks with minimal recovery time. They are cheaper than surgery and may refresh your appearance in a natural way, if done by the right doctor. However, surgical results typically last longer and have more significant results.
